Guest lectures on self-organisation, distributed optimisation and citizen science

The theme of this year's PhD Day is a combination of the topics self-organisation, distributed optimisation and citizen science. The day will start with four inspirational talks that all interested ENG staff members are invited to join.

Time 08:45 13:45
Location Richard Mortensenstuen, Studenterhusfonden, Fredrik Nielsens Vej 4, 8000 Aarhus.

Theme
The theme is a combination of the topics: self-organisation, distributed optimisation and citizen science. Problems in engineering are becoming increasingly complex. This increases the difficulty of solving these problems and can also cause a lack of intuition. Some research groups are beginning to use an entirely new approach to solving complex problems. They develop games for thousands of people (mostly non-experts) to play online. These games lead to results that the research groups would not be able to find using standard methods.

The aim of this year’s PhD Day is to inspire you to use these alternative methods to solve complex problems related to your own research.

The day will start with four inspirational talks. In the afternoon, there will be a workshop for the PhD students focusing on the design of future cities through citizen games and gamification.
